True stories

In the summer of 2009 Liuba Popa solicited aid from Hippocrates Center as  she was in need of an orthopedic chair. Her family lives in a village from Telenesti  district. Liuba’s parents were directed by other parents to request aid from Hippocrates Center where she was provided with necessary orthopedic chair.

Hippocrates Center has granted her request but unfourtunatly in the absence of prerequisite cariage and regular contact with phisiotherapist she could not meet the challenging complications of  the disability that she suffers from – Cerebral Palsy.

In march 2010 within consultations at Hippocrates  it was determined that the child had suffered severe changes of the hip joints which with no treatment deteriorates the ability of sitting.

Shortly she was urgently consulted  by orthopedic specialists from the  National Research Institute in the field of Maternal and Child Health and they recommended orthopedic surgical interventions. Liuba’s mother refused this procedure on the grounds that she does not have the money for the trip to the city and  living wages as both parents are currently  unemployed.

At the Hippocrates Board meeting it was decided that the family would be helped,  so that the child doesn’t loose any more time for surgegical treatment.

Receintly Liuba had succesfull orthopedic surgery at both of her hips and at the moment being she needs to consolidate bones and to start physical therapy.

Summer vacation of 2009
Saturday, 22 August 2009 00:00

Within 7 wonderful summer days, 9 children which visit Hippocrates Center, together with parents, had the opportunity to rest at the sea. They were accompanied by 3 employees of the Center, which had the mission to help parents to look after children and to diversify their rest.

They traveled to Sergeevca, Ukraine. The trip was pleasant and was accompanied by impatience to see the sea. Conditions of residing and the food, according to parents and children, were surprisingly good and much better than at home. Transportation to the sea was daily provided with a boat that became a fascinating for children.

Days of vacation passed by quickly as children did not have time to bore. They went to the sea, where they learn to swim with the help of Center staff. Also they played in the sand. In cold days children floated in pool and cheerfully spent time, participating in various interesting games together with workers of the Center.

Time has come to say goodbye to the hospitable sea. In suitcases there were only pleasant memoirs and hope that such fine vacation will repeat the next year.

In the letters addressed to sponsors, who have made possible this trip, children by means of parents have expressed the feelings of gratitude and happiness:

"There are no words to express, how many pleasure and happiness you gave us. Marin was in the seventh heaven. Conditions of residing and meal were top-level, better than at home. Everything, the sea, air and water is that was necessary for us for health. We thank with all the heart all sponsors and Hippocrates Center team. "(Leonte family)

"Here in camp I have met children same special, as well as I. We have communicated, exchanged opinions. We cried and smiled together because all of us are identical, with two feet and two hands, but we differ a little and we require the help of people with heart and soul. "(Poyana family)

"The first days on the sea were small waves. It was a little difficult to Darya to enter into water because it was on the sea for the first time. Hippocrates employees learnt her to float with circle, on a back and on a stomach, using feet and hands. Every day, brought to us new and new pleasures." (Komarov family)

"In Sergeevca I like everything that occurs: sea water, meal, room where we live. There is nothing that it would not be pleasant to me. Today, in the first day, I have understood that here it would be useful to visit to all people. "(Veronica Lipkan)

"We have perfectly spent time with mum. We liked the sea, the beach. We sunbathed, floated in pool and breathed fresh air. I thank those who have helped me to visit for the first time on the sea." (Gutsu family)

"I and Alexander, we liked all the days of the rest, and especially pool which delivered a lot of pleasure to children. Also children liked trips on a boat and games in sand on seacoast. Thank you. "(Koada family)
