In the summer of 2009 Liuba Popa solicited aid from Hippocrates Center as she was in need of an orthopedic chair. Her family lives in a village from Telenesti district. Liuba’s parents were directed by other parents to request aid from Hippocrates Center where she was provided with necessary orthopedic chair. Hippocrates Center has granted her request but unfourtunatly in the absence of prerequisite cariage and regular contact with phisiotherapist she could not meet the challenging complications of the disability that she suffers from – Cerebral Palsy. In march 2010 within consultations at Hippocrates it was determined that the child had suffered severe changes of the hip joints which with no treatment deteriorates the ability of sitting. Shortly she was urgently consulted by orthopedic specialists from the National Research Institute in the field of Maternal and Child Health and they recommended orthopedic surgical interventions. Liuba’s mother refused this procedure on the grounds that she does not have the money for the trip to the city and living wages as both parents are currently unemployed. At the Hippocrates Board meeting it was decided that the family would be helped, so that the child doesn’t loose any more time for surgegical treatment. Receintly Liuba had succesfull orthopedic surgery at both of her hips and at the moment being she needs to consolidate bones and to start physical therapy. |

Someone stayed home, someone visited the grandmother, but at Hippocrates the summer passed actively! Our summer has begun with the international day of protection of children on 1st of June. A clown visited us! It entertained us with funny focuses and riddles. We have held a competition of drawings. The day was a very fun one; we wined many prizes and gifts. You can admire the most beautiful drawings in the site album. Volunteers of our centre have taken care of that in the summer nobody bored and has seen as much as possible interesting things. Draughts, dominoes, tasty sweets and quiz of erudites. Like this has passed a picnic on the nature, in the territory of Dendro-park, among rare exotic plants and near a lake with water lilies. Were organized regular visitings of the Chisinau zoo by small groups of children and parents, with use of transport of Hippocrates Center. Many will tell: “We were in zoo many times!“. Yes, quite probably, “But we know the names of all inhabitants of this small world - Chingiz!, Roksana!, Shurochka!, Simba!, Shera!, Kato!“ “And that’s not all!”, will tell to you Alexander Mozjilin. We can brag that we speak not the Porcupine or the Leopard, and we know all inhabitants of zoo by names! And it thanks to our guide - Radu! For children 8 – 10 years, were organized weekly visitings of library "Tyrgovishte". During time of "Hour of the Fairy tale“ we have plunged into the magic world of Moldavian and Russian fairy tales. So it was pleasant to us that all children were registered and took home the pleasant books. Probably, few children visited the Ethnographic Museum. Many will tell that a museum it is uninteresting. We made an excursion in the past and were fascinated by the history of the Earth and our State. We at all didn't know that in our territory lived dinosaurs! Didn't believe yet seen the skeletons of a prehistoric mammoth and a cave bear! In this museum we saw the disappeared animals and birds. And who was on ostrich's farm in Jaloveni? - We! It was very interesting to observe these big birds. We were allowed to touch and feed these visitors from other continent – Australia, with its mysterious fauna. We have learnt that the hippotherapy is “a method of treatment on horses“. Unforgettable sensations from affinity with the nature. We felt wild Indians or medieval knights for whom the horse was not only means of transportation, but also a loyal friend. In the end of August we have visited Patria, the cinema administration has generously given us 60 tickets. And how we had rest in Old Orhey? We have visited one of the few in our country rocky monastery. The legend says that very long time ago it have been independently cut it in rocks by 12 monks, using the hammer and the chisel. In this monastery is cool in the summer, and warmly in the winter without heating. It is feature of sandstone, or koteletz as it named, of which all hills and underground layers of our Moldova consist. Thanks to this short, but interesting project our children and parents had an opportunity to meet and get friendly relations, and to travel in new interesting places in Chisinau and our republic.
