True stories

In the summer of 2009 Liuba Popa solicited aid from Hippocrates Center as  she was in need of an orthopedic chair. Her family lives in a village from Telenesti  district. Liuba’s parents were directed by other parents to request aid from Hippocrates Center where she was provided with necessary orthopedic chair.

Hippocrates Center has granted her request but unfourtunatly in the absence of prerequisite cariage and regular contact with phisiotherapist she could not meet the challenging complications of  the disability that she suffers from – Cerebral Palsy.

In march 2010 within consultations at Hippocrates  it was determined that the child had suffered severe changes of the hip joints which with no treatment deteriorates the ability of sitting.

Shortly she was urgently consulted  by orthopedic specialists from the  National Research Institute in the field of Maternal and Child Health and they recommended orthopedic surgical interventions. Liuba’s mother refused this procedure on the grounds that she does not have the money for the trip to the city and  living wages as both parents are currently  unemployed.

At the Hippocrates Board meeting it was decided that the family would be helped,  so that the child doesn’t loose any more time for surgegical treatment.

Receintly Liuba had succesfull orthopedic surgery at both of her hips and at the moment being she needs to consolidate bones and to start physical therapy.

SUMMER VACATION 2010
Monday, 06 September 2010 07:30

At the end of August for children from Hippocrates the adventure has begun!

The trip to the Sea… how many good memories associate with these words!

10 children together with their parents have traveled to Zatoka, Ukraine.

2 Centers collaborators have been their friendly attendants and their mission was to make children and their parent’s stay as pleasant as it could be contributing with their knowledge in reinforcement of children’s the health.

The road to the destination was not too long and during our trip children have admired the steppe landscapes anticipating the so much wanted meeting with the sea.

The pensions landlords have been very hospitable and everyone felt like at home. The food that was served offered sufficient energy to play with the sea waves.

In addition the pension was really close to the sea, which is an important detail for children that have difficulties in movement. Children have enjoyed very much their time at the sea. The centers collaborators taught them to swim, in this way they felt the effect of sea water therapy. Also they made sand castles and figurines as well as every evening they played games and had fun participated in different competitions making new friends.

And as the summer was gone with the sea breeze children and parents have returned home full of energy and relaxed ready to start a new school year. Thus the outcome of this trip had important beneficial effects on their health and on their well being in general.

On the way back home somewhere deep in their heart that was full of impressions children confessed the desire to come back to the sea, so that they live again unforgettable happy moments. Here are some of the impressions of the participants that took part in this wonderful adventure:

“Viktorash went to the sea for the first time in his life and he loved it! He won many prizes at the competences organized for children, and he loved going on the slide, and he said that he would love to celebrate his birthday at the sea with many balloons and a big cake! (Ungureanu family)

“Vova was so happy to swim at the sea as well as to play in the sand with other children! Thank you so much for creating such an unique opportunity for us! (Damian family)

“We were very pleased by this summer trip. The hosting conditions and food served were good, Maxim enjoyed playing the games in the evening and taking part in all active leisure activities. We are very grateful for these special moments offered by the Hippocrates Center staff”. (Miftahov family)

“Anishoara went for the first time to the sea when she was little. Now as she grew older her impressions were much more colorfully. She liked the pension where we were hosted and mentioned that it was “Like in Heaven!” Thank you from the bottom of our heart for organizing this vacation”. (Ungureanu family)
