Every 10 years the medical knowledge is doubling in volume. To keep pace with the advances of modern medical science and introduce new methods of functional rehabilitation of children with special needs, Hippocrates Center aims the continuous professional development of staff. In summer, when children are resting, it's the best time for the employees to learn, explore and fill their theoretical and practical knowledge. Within the training program for a university degree in the field of Cerebral Palsy (CP) and multiple injuries, Dr. Diana Covalciuc visited several centers in France, offering rehabilitation services to children. In ARPEGE Center for children with multiple injuries, led by professor Michel Le Metayer, in Clichy-la-Garenne, were studied methods of functional rehabilitation of oro-facial disorders and swallowing problems. In Anthony's rehabilitation center for children, the joint consultations with Dr. Veronique Leroy Malherbe, allowed to explore new methods of assessing praxis in young children. At the National Hospital of Saint-Maurice, the neurologist Veronique Quentin and the specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation Michel Thetio, have helped to learn new methods for evaluation of the functional status of children with CP. At the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Ellen Poidatz Foundation, in a suburb of Paris, with Dr. Najib Khoury, were studied new orthopedic technologies and methods of orthoses in children with CP and multiple injuries. Also, the Hippocrates Center organized various seminars. In June-July 2010 was held 2 workshops with specialists from different countries. In June, the Center was visited by the physical therapist Renate Hallet, United Kingdom. She contributed with orthopedic materials, and, within two days, advised the young patients how to use the orthoses. For several years, Hippocrates Center is visited by the specialists from Medical Teams International, Seattle, USA. With our proposal have been examined the methods of functional rehabilitation by improving motor control. This was possible thanks to Mrs. Nancy Hilton, physiotherapist, PhD, USA. A laboratory-seminar was organized, during which were hand-fabricated 5 pairs of individual orthopedic feet. The seminar was held in the office of the Center from "Orfeu" complex. In addition, Medical Teams International experts shared their experience how to adapt the equipment in schools were children with special needs study.
