The suffering caused by chronic conditions in children both to the children themselves and to their families has served as an incentive for founding Hippocrates Center - a non-governmental, non-profit organization for children with chronic conditions coming from socially vulnerable families.

The use of nonmedicamentous methods of functional rehabilitation: physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, therapeutic massage, orthosis etc., represents one of the key principles adopted by the team of the center. Also taking place is the continuous training of parents with regard to care of chronically ill children, choice of appropriate treatment methods, approach to and understanding of the nature of their child's suffering and promotion of a healthy lifestyle. We bring the child's family to the center of the rehabilitation process and transform the patient and his/her family from the target of the recovery process into active participants of a long-term and sustainable project aiming at recovery and social integration.
